Well, about 7 months ago we weren't really sure who Kain was...with the news of the pregnancy, J.J. and Ashley were ecstatic...our new Baby Dossett would be entering the world around the end of June, maybe early July. Well, the exciting "baby" news came and the lovely "morning sickness" followed...The first trimester was not as exciting and fun as Ash had pictured it...in between bouts of vomiting and the inability to even think about "pasta", she endured sleepless nights and tiresome teaching days. You could not call her on the phone past 8:00 because she was already in bed...and DID NOT like to be disturbed.
Well, the first trimester flew by for the family but dragged on for Ash...and the news came...IT IS A BOY! Then, the dilemma for all new parents...what will be Baby Dossett be named? Well, Mommy and Daddy had their differences...Mommy wasn't set on a name but Daddy definitely had his choice...Augustus and "Gus" for short...Well, if you know Ash and hadn't already guessed, J.J. did not get his way. Like Rachel Green says..."No uterus, no comment." After a few weeks, Ash had made her decision...Baby Dossett would officially be known as Kain Joseph Dossett...special emphasis on the "K." No child of Ashley's will have the chance of being called "C.J." at any time in his blessed life (childhood trauma, no need to bring up difficult memories). So, there he was...Kain Joseph...
During the second trimester, Ash started to feel well...still no "pasta" but life was going as well as a pregnant second grade teacher could ask for. She and J.J. even enjoyed a spring break cruise with her in-laws. Life couldn't get any better. A few weeks later though, Kain decided he needed more attention than he was receiving. One afternoon, during a routine check-up with the doctor, Ash found out that she did not have enough fluid for "safe keeping" of Baby Kain. She was placed in the hospital for bed rest and Kain was monitored on a daily basis. She was there for about a week and things started to progress well. The doctor sent her home with strict orders...bed rest and nothing else. Well, that got old pretty quick. But, the family (along with many loving and gracious friends) kept her entertained and busy the best ways they could. She even enjoyed a few visits from the "cousins."

Ash on bed rest with the "cousins", Rubi and Pearl...
Well, Ash and J.J. endured two weeks at home...enjoying movies, magazines, and frequent visits from friends and family. However, Kain wasn't satisfied...it seemed Mommy was receiving too much attention. Another trip to the doctor and another stay at the hospital...Ashley had gained, it seemed, 11 cm in liquid over the two week bed rest but her last appointment showed her liquid at 5 cm. It was in Kain's best interest for his mommy to remain at the hospital with around the clock care. So, here we are again...
Ash, enjoying her hospital stay, once again...
So, we wait...and we wait...and pray that Kain remains where he is for a little more "cooking" before he makes his appearance...
